Ferrous sulfate monohydrate is used in the production of iron salts, iron oxide pigments, mordant, water purifier, antiseptic, disinfectant, etc. Ferrous sulfate monohydrate can be used as a reductant, mainly to reduce the chromate in the cement; in medicine, it is used as anti-anemia drugs, local astringent and blood tonic, as iron fortification of feed additives; it can be used as a pesticide in agriculture, and used as nutritional supplements in food grade, such as iron fortification agent, fruit and vegetable coloring agent. Ferrous sulfate monohydrate can also be used as fertilizer and can remove moss and lichen from tree trunks. It is the raw material for the manufacture of magnetic iron oxide, iron oxide red and iron blue inorganic pigments, iron catalysts and polyferric sulfate.
