Aluminum sulfate white rhombohedral crystal system crystalline powder, density 1.69g/mL (25℃). In the paper industry as rosin gum, wax emulsion and other gum precipitant, water treatment as a flocculant, but also for foam fire extinguishers within the retention of the agent, the manufacture of alum, aluminum white raw materials, petroleum decolorization, deodorant, raw materials for certain drugs, etc.. It can also be used to manufacture artificial gemstones and ammonium alum.
About 50% of the total production of aluminum sulfate is used for paper making, followed by the use of drinking water, industrial water and industrial wastewater treatment as a flocculant, accounting for about 40% of the total production of aluminum sulfate. When adding aluminum sulfate to this type of water, it can be generated into gelatinous, aluminum hydroxide flocs that can adsorb and precipitate bacteria, colloids and other suspended matter, which can be used in drinking water treatment to control the color and taste of the water.
Physical Properties:
Appearance and properties: white crystal with sweet odor; Solubility: soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol and so on.
Industrial product is off-white flake, granule or block, with light green color due to low iron salt, and the surface is yellowish due to oxidation of low iron salt. The crude product is gray-white fine crystal structure porous.
Easily soluble in water, aluminum sulfate in pure sulfuric acid can not be dissolved (just coexist), in sulfuric acid solution with sulfuric acid dissolved in water, so the solubility of aluminum sulfate in sulfuric acid is the solubility of aluminum sulfate in water.
